Kenyon College, a co-educational, liberal arts and sciences institution in central Ohio, invites applications for two Admissions Counselor/Assistant Director of Admissions position openings (title dependent on experience). These are 12-month, full-time positions in the Office of Admissions. The admissions counselor/assistant director will participate in a team-oriented working environment through all phases of the recruitment and selection process.
The individual will convey key institutional messages to prospective students and parents on- and off-campus and cultivate professional relationships with guidance counselors and key educational organizations. The recruitment portfolio will include travel (8-10 weeks per year), counseling and advising students and families regarding the admission process, conducting interviews and presentations, maintaining relationships with guidance counselors, and managing a territory throughout the admission cycle. This admission director will fully participate in the evaluation of first-year applications.
The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, both in writing and speaking; great organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail; and strong interpersonal skills. This individual should possess a strong sense of initiative and should be able to juggle multiple responsibilities simultaneously while working independently with minimal supervision or in a team setting. The ideal person will also be skilled at taking a creative and collaborative approach to problem-solving and have the ability to analyze data to assess admission trends.
An understanding of and appreciation for the values of a residential liberal arts college are essential. A Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution is required. The position requires a willingness to travel and availability for night and weekend work.
Employment at Kenyon is contingent upon a successful background check. A valid driver's license is also required and candidates must be in a position to pass Kenyon's driver certification.
Salary and title are commensurate with background and experience.
