Kenyon College invites applications for the position of Administrative Assistant in the Office of Admissions. This is a full-time, twelve month position and includes a generous benefits package. The hourly rate of pay is $13.84. This position is part of an enrollment management team aimed at supporting the recruitment efforts of the Office of Admissions. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, supporting the travel and alumni admissions programs and serving as the main telephone contact for the Office of Admissions. The Administrative Assistant will work closely with the Travel Coordinator to make decisions about college fairs, to respond to fair hosts, and to manage assignments to staff and alumni and student volunteers. This assistant will also work with the Alumni Admissions Coordinator to support volunteer activities such as college fairs, interviews, and hosting receptions. While prospective students, their families, and guidance counselors often email the Admissions Office or find answers online, some will call with questions about the application process. The successful candidate will answer these questions and direct callers to the appropriate resources.
The successful candidate will possess an ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision; excellent communication skills, both in writing and speaking; experience in the area of documentation review and editing; great organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail; and strong interpersonal skills (a sense of humor is a preferred characteristic!). Strong computer skills are required, including the use of Microsoft Office programs, Gmail and Google Drive, as well as the willingness to learn new programs. Candidates must possess a friendly and professional demeanor and be able to work independently. A high school degree is required; relevant courses beyond high school preferred. Employment is contingent upon a successful background check.
