Visiting Assistant Professor of Music
Kenyon College, a highly selective, nationally ranked liberal arts college in central Ohio, invites applications for a visiting position in Music Theory and Composition at the rank of Assistant Professor or Instructor beginning in July 2018. Qualifications include a Ph.D. in music theory or a D.M.A. in composition with experience writing for a variety of instruments (including electronic media), strong teaching skills, and promise/evidence of scholarly/artistic potential.
Kenyon seeks applications from candidates whose qualifications complement and expand our liberal arts approach to studying music. Teaching responsibilities shall include participation in the core music theory sequence (from beginning to upper-level) and composition. Complementing these primary duties might also include teaching music technology or other electives, including courses that participate in one of Kenyon’s interdisciplinary concentrations, such as Women's and Gender Studies, American Studies, Scientific Computing, or the like. The contract year for this position begins July 1, 2018, and fall semester classes begin in late August. The successful candidate will need to be in residence 7-10 days before the start of the fall semester.
