Kenyon College is conducting a search for a qualified candidate to fill the position of Plumber, 2nd shift. Reporting to the Manager of Building Trades, the candidate will apply the generally accepted techniques, practices, and procedures of the plumber's trade. This includes performing journey level plumbing system inspections, installations, maintenance and troubleshooting, repair and/or renovation of underground piping, systems and building piping, fittings, equipment and controls to insure that all systems operate properly, in accordance with their intended use. Must be able to read and interpret drawings, prints, schematics, manuals, etc. to determine work requirements. Must be able to take field measurements and prepare sketches for fabrication or plumbing system components and prepare project material lists needed. Must be able to make repairs, construct, fabricate, erect and/or install plumbing system components, in accordance with field measurements, drawings, prints or sketches and the National Plumbing Code to ensure proper performance. Must clean and open clogged drains, sewer lines, storm drains, etc. as needed. Able to inspect building facilities and equipment to ascertain required repairs and report any discrepancies and recommendations to supervisor, if unable to correct the problem. Act as group leader when designated to do so by supervisor. Perform such other duties as may be assigned in emergencies.
The schedule for this full-time position is Tuesday - Saturday, 4:00 pm - 12:30 am. The hourly rate of pay is $23.18.
Minimum Qualifications Include: High School graduate or GED with good reading, math skills, and mechanical aptitude. Must have backflow certification. Must be able to comprehend and follow verbal and written instruction. Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision. Must have at least 8 years of experience in the plumbing trade, at least 4 of which must have been at the journey level or be a graduate of a formal and recognized apprentice program and have 2 years of experience at the journey level. Must have knowledge and experience operating hand and power tools of the trade and put into practice the safe use and operation, thereof. A current and valid Ohio driver's license and the ability to operate a standard shift vehicle. Ability to work at high elevations using scaffolding or ladders. Must be capable of lifting and carrying heavy loads approximately 50 pounds.
