VISITING Assistant Professor of Religious StudiesKenyon College, a highly selective, nationally ranked liberal arts college in central Ohio, invites applications for a one year Visiting Assistant Professor in Religion in the Americas in the Department of Religious Studies for the academic year 2018-2018. The department seeks candidates with specialization in Religion in America along with proficiency in some combination of African-American Religions, Native American religious traditions, African Spirituality in the Americas, women/gender and religion, religion and the law, religion and politics, and religion and the environment. The department also seeks candidates with broad training in the academic study of religion. The successful candidate will teach a foundation/survey course on religion in the United States, our introductory course Encountering Religion in Its Global Context, and three other courses to be negotiated with the department chair.
Candidates who have or will have completed the PhD degree by July 2018 are encouraged to apply. Submit a letter of application, a statement of teaching philosophy, a curriculum vitae, unofficial transcripts, three letters of reference, and a writing sample to http://careers.kenyon.edu. We will commence reading applications in early November and will continue until the position is filled. Completed applications received by November 15, 2017 will be guaranteed full consideration. We expect to conduct preliminary interviews via Skype in December and January. Campus interviews will be in late January or early February 2018.
