Tenure Track Assistant Professor of Drama
Kenyon College, a highly selective, nationally ranked liberal arts college in central Ohio, invites applications for a tenure track position in Drama (with an emphasis in Directing Theater) at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning in July 2018. The successful candidate will teach the equivalent of five courses each year, including one section of Introduction to the Theater (DRAM 111), courses in directing – including The Director (DRAM 261) and Advanced Directing (DRAM 362), and one or two courses in dramatic literature taught from the practitioner’s perspective, to be determined by the candidate’s expertise and the department’s needs. In addition, this position requires that the candidate direct one of the season’s main stage productions, working with student actors and faculty designers. They will also advise several senior thesis productions each year. Tenured and tenure track faculty at Kenyon College are also expected to serve as academic adviser to a cohort of new students, as well as majors within the department, and do service on college governance committees. The successful candidates must demonstrate a commitment to, and understanding of, the performing arts in the context of a liberal arts education. Our program stresses learning by doing. A completed MFA is required.
