Tenure Track Assistant Professor of Religious Studies in Judaic TraditionsKenyon College, a highly selective liberal arts college in Gambier, Ohio, welcomes applications for a tenure-track position in Judaic Traditions in the Department of Religious Studies, beginning in the academic year 2018-2019. Ph.D. in hand before August 1, 2018 required. Candidates with significant teaching experience at the assistant professor level are encouraged to apply. The Department seeks candidates with comprehensive training in Jewish studies, Jewish religious traditions, and the broader academic study of religion. While flexible with regard to the candidate's disciplinary orientation, the Department will favor those whose work is informed by current theoretical trends in the humanities and social sciences as well as those whose work is interdisciplinary in nature (e.g. gender studies, religion and literature, etc.). Candidates should be willing to offer an array of courses including foundational and upper level courses on Judaic Traditions, at least one of which should incorporate Tanakh and Talmud, as well as a yearly section of our department’s introductory course, Encountering Religion in Global Context. The successful candidate will also develop courses in his/her area of expertise. Preference will be given to candidates with broad training in religious studies and to those with teaching experience. The teaching load will be 2/2 the first year and 3/2 thereafter.
